Yesterday we had our first appointment with the new physio.... I am trying not to judge and am remembering that when our other physio started V cried also... the main difference was the old physio stopped her crying herself and the new physio kept giving her to me... The other big problem with the physio is she cannot wrap V's arm. I guess there are only a couple of physio's trained in the wrapping and she initially told me V wouldn't have her arm wrapped.... Arg... I was a touch forceful about her needing her arm wrapped and she went to go talk to someone and they came to do it. Only, they initially wrapped it wrong so they had to take the tape off and start again. It also isn't quiet tight enough as she can still sort of rotate it the wrong way rather than it keeping her arm in the correct position. I will talk to them about this on thursday for next week. i am turning into a bossy mother!!! I am always nice about everything but this is her arm... it is important they do it right!!!
On the plus side, the physio seemed to really work V's shoulder, with massage and manually rotating and stretching the muscles. This is good because we need that external rotation!!! I am hoping V is more cooperative on thursday!!
Today Veronica went to get her Vaccines. It was a HUGE process but luckily Mike's co-worker came to help with the translations. The vaccines are not all the same as in Canada so it was a bit of a too do figuring out what vaccines she has had and what she needs. Two big differences are the Hep B and Meningocoque (in french) vaccines. In Canada Hep B is only given at 4 years old but here it is given right away because (apparently) there is alot of Hep B in Europe. Same with the Meningocoque. We opted out of the Meningocoque but she got Hep B. We now are caught up with Vaccines and she only needs to go back in May for her second Hep B shot and then end of Sept and Nov. While their vaccines are a little different they follow the WHO standard.
The pediatrician was very nice and after checking V out (her lungs and heart are fine!) she gave V a wooden tongue depressor. When she got the needles she would scream and then stop and chew on her toy!!! It was pretty funny and amazing to see how much she has grown up. With her first shots she was inconsolable, with these, yes, it hurt going in but that was it. Such a big girl!!!
