Trastevere

The Piazza

On the tram
A couple of weekends ago (I know I know I am late to blogging about it..) Mike, Veronica and I took ourselves off to discover Trastevere. Trastevere means - beyond the Tibre (river) which for us was a bus ride away. In order to get to the Piazza we had to take a tram - I didn't even know there were trams in Rome!

Mike had already been to Trastevere a few times with his friend but I had never gone. At night people can buy drinks and wander around the Piazza talking to people, drinking, and just have a good time. We went during the day so i did not get to experience this.. perhaps another time.

The Basilica
Narrow Streets
At the Piazza where there is a wonderful church - Basilica di Santa Marie in Trastevere which we happily explored. I found the inside kind of dark but it was still nice. After going through the Basilica we wondered around all the narrow streets. This area is a little "artier" than other areas and had some neat stores.

After walking around we went and had a late lunch-early supper and headed home. It was a lovely day and I look forward to going back and exploring some more :)
