Veronica has a winged scapula (hers does not protrude like the pictures on the link). They examined her to see what her range of motion was. One of the problems with a winged scapula is that it can affect a persons range of motion. Among other things it can cause bad posture and it may be difficult to lift things. They said that as long as the winged scapula does not affect her range of motion she should not need to have surgery on it. A side note - did I already write this?? Mikes coworker has 2 winged scapula's. She never needed surgery but from a young age her mother made her swim. It helped flatten them and sort the muscles out. Another thing we learned today is that veronica will not be bandaged much longer. it is almost too hot for it. When it is so hot the tape will break the skin down easier and cause sores. It will be a nice break for her. The last couple of weeks Veronica has been sucking the thumb bandage off. Today they got some pretty bright pink tape that is more water resistant - too her sucking. She is so pretty in pink! It is also nice that once she can no longer wear the bandage I will start taking her swimming to play. Another of mike's coworkers swims so we will find out where the closest pool is.
Thats all for now!!!
What wonderful, positive news!!!!!
