I have been a bit of a hermit lately and not been good about posting here is a quick catch up as to what has been happening...
Wednesday December 1st - Longest day EVER!!
1 am - Veronica finally goes to sleep
5:30 am - We get up to start heading to Immigration.
6:30 am - A cranky Catherine with Veronica straped to her front and Mike head out into the POURING rain to the metro....
- 1 metro ride - all the way to the end - and 1 bus ride later we are at immigration which also happens to be the head police station in ROme.
7:45 am - Get in line with other immigrants - still outside in the pouring rain an even crankier and wetter Catherine is concerned that Veronica is getting wet and going to get sick...
- Mike's meeting at immigration is at 8 am... Immigration opens at 8:30 am.... Typical Italy.
8:15 am - Army personel show up to let everyone with babies and children in, Hurray we are out of the rain!! Army personel appear to be a minimum of 6 feet 5 inchs and all LOVE babies - especially Veronica!
8:30 am - Meeting with immigration officer who speaks no english (or french). Mike and Veronica become residents, I will soonish... We just have to send some forms in and then go back for another meeting but I don't have to go back to canada!!! Half way through meeting Veronica wakes up and screams alot, nothing that a well placed boob won't fix, once satisfied she goes back to sleep.
9:30 - 9:45 am - Getting back on bus and heading back to metro to go back to appartment we now have to move out of. hmmmm... this post seems to be getting longer than anticipated... I will try and cut the rest of the day down a bit..
- Mike gets rented car which is tiny, resulting in two trips between old and new apartment. Once all our stuff is moved in we drive off to Ikea... During this time Veronica is overtired and cranky and screams constantly unless being held... Yes, I held her in the car, while walking through Ikea, basically most of the afternoon and evening... At Ikea we got most of our items but due to little car Mike had to go back yesterday (sunday) to get everything delivered.
By the time Mike had returned the car it was an hour past its return time and 9 pm when he got home. Around this time I am realizing I have a tickle in my throat and am getting sick....
What a day!
I love that last picture of Ronnie. I feel she's showing her individuality there, no longer just "looks like mum/dad."
ReplyDeleteI get a kick out of this picture as well.. It is her determined face!
